Affiliated with AACA & VMCCA The CVR is about the restoration and preservation of the antique automobile, and its heritage, for our own enjoyment and for the preservation of American History. Through monthly meets and outings we get together to enjoy, discuss and show-off our great autos!
CVR History
- Connecticut Valley Region: AACA/VMCCA
- The first official meeting of the CVR was held at the Highland Hotel in Springfield, Mass. on April 17, 1950. Business of the evening was to elect officers. Thirty-seven people were present. Elected were John R. Lyman of Springfield as Director; James Cowan of South Deerfield as Secretary; Glenn Whitney of North Wilbraham as Treasurer. It was decided to hold the first field meet at Deerfield Academy Grounds in Deerfield, Mass. There were 19 members present, including M. Jerry Duryea, son of the maker of the first car built in the U.S. in 1893 (Duryea). CVR was officially incorporated Aug. 11, 1954, under the name of Connecticut Valley Region of the Veteran Motor Car Club of America and Antique Automobile Club of America , Inc. The region extended from the Connecticut shoreline to the Canadian border in Vermont and New Hampshire, and Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden Counties to the east, and Berkshire County to the New York border. Fairfield County in Connecticut was in the New York Region.
